A bushfire ADVICE has been issued for people in an area bounded by Camargue Drive, Cathedral Avenue, Rolling Hills Drive, Connemara Drive, including the Avon Ridge Estate, north to Lancewood Avenue, in Brigadoon in the City of Swan
• The alert level for this fire has been downgraded as the fire is now under control.• Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes.• The fire started between Cathedral Avenue and Carmargue Drive.
BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR:• The bushfire is stationary. • It is a under control but not contained.
WHAT TO DO:• Stay alert and monitor your surroundings.• Watch for signs of a bushfire, especially smoke and flames.• Read through your bushfire survival plan.• If you do not have a plan decide what you will do if the situation gets worse.• Please call triple zero if you see flames in the area.
IF DRIVING: • Be extremely careful when driving through the area.• Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions.
ROAD CLOSURES:Avoid the area and be aware of fire and other emergency services personnel working on site.The access to Bells Rapids has been closed.Road information may also be available from Main Roads WA by calling 138 138 or visiting www.mainroads.wa.gov.au
WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING:• Sixty career and volunteer Fire and Rescue Service, Bush Fire Service and Department of Parks and Wildlife firefighters are on the scene. • Firefighters are mopping up and building containment lines.• City of Swan are also in attendance.
EXTRA INFORMATION:• The incident was reported at 1.50pm on Friday 4 March. • Currently 10 hectares have been burnt.• The cause of the fire is suspicious.• People are asked to report any suspicious behaviour to Police Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.• The Shire of Swan is managing the fire.
