Media and Public Affairs (MPA) is the central contact point for all media, corporate communications and public affairs enquiries for the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES).
MPA keeps WA communities informed of potential, developing and current emergencies by issuing alerts and warnings for a wide range of incidents including bushfire, cyclone, tsunami, flood, storm, earthquake and hazardous material spills.
MPA provides a vital community resource producing and distributing alerts and warnings when there is a possible threat to lives and property to safeguard the community.
During emergency situations MPA works collaboratively with the media, state and local government departments and agencies, volunteer groups, services and utilities to collate and distribute public information.
MPA also promotes DFES volunteers to the wider community, creates awareness campaigns and provides events management and promotion of community safety initiatives state wide.
