Bushfire ADVICE for Moonyoonooka, east of Geraldton
Friday 11 December 2009 – 9:10 AM

ALERT LEVEL:

A bushfire ADVICE has been issued for people in the immediate north and west of Yanget Hill, On Bush Hill, Beatenally Hill and Moonyoonooka.

 

There are no lives or homes threatened by the fire. Although there is no immediate danger people in the area need to be alert and keep up to date in case the situation changes

 

WHAT TO DO:

 

People living in the area need to be aware of fire and other emergency services personnel working on site and take their advice.

 

BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR:

The bushfire is now contained.

 

WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING:

20 volunteer firefighters from surrounding farms in the City of Geraldton/Greenough with 10 appliances are mopping up and will monitor the area for the rest of the day.

 

The incident was reported at 11.57am on Wednesday 9 December and has burnt through 2000 hectares.

 

ROAD CLOSURES:

All roads are open.

 

AGENCY RESPONSIBLE:

The City of Geraldton/Greenough is managing the fire.
