Bushfire ALL CLEAR for Beaconsfield
Thursday 10 December 2009 – 3:20 PM

ALERT LEVEL:

An ALL CLEAR advice has been issued for Lefroy Street, Beaconsfield. The bushfire is now under control however people should remain vigilant in case the situation changes.

 

WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING:

Crews are currently mopping up and will leave the area safe.

 

ROAD CLOSURES:

Lefroy Road has been closed between Longford Road and Caesar Street.

 

Motorists in the area should take extreme caution as there may still be smoke across some roads and fire and other emergency services personnel who are continuing their work.

INCIDENT INFORMATION:

Twenty Fire and Rescue Service firefighters from Fremantle, Murdoch, Belmont and Canning Vale have been busy since 1.30pm protecting lives and homes.

 

Firefighters have worked hard to get the fire under control and have saved half a dozen homes on Lefroy Road as well as Lefroy Road Child Care Centre and Challenger Tafe.

 

It is estimated three hectares were burnt. Some fencing on Lefroy Road was damaged.
