A bushfire ADVICE remains in place for people in the Walpole area for a bushfire in a remote area of the Walpole Wilderness Area 30km north of Walpole.
The fire has been contained and no private property is threatened.
This will be the last advice provided by the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) unless the situation changes.
WHAT TO DO:
People living or travelling in the area need to be aware of smoke.
The fire behaviour has been erratic due to heavy fuel loads.
WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING:
The fire has been contained and DEC fire crews will be mopping up today and tomorrow.
DEC also is completing a prescribed burn that was started four weeks ago in the O’Sullivan forest block in Shannon National Park, 18km east of Northcliffe.
A number of roads have been closed (see below) and motorists should avoid the area.
· Bevan, Durham, Roe Western, Mitchell and Rocky roads.
DEC is managing the fire.
