A bushfire ADVICE has been issued for people in the north eastern part of Beechboro and the north western part of Caversham.
This includes homes in Beechboro between Altone Road, Marshall Road, Reid Highway and the Bennett Brook and homes in Caversham between Benara Road, Reid Highway, Bennett Street and Lord Street.
There are no lives or homes threatened by the fire. Although there is no immediate danger you need to keep up to date in case the situation changes.
WHAT TO DO:
People living in the area need to be alert and watch for signs of fire.
· Close all doors and windows.
· Turn off evaporative air conditioners but keep water running through the system if possible.
People living in the area need to be aware of fire and other emergency services personnel working on site and take their advice.
The bushfire has slowed and there is now minimal fire activity.
WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING:
Fifty career and volunteer Fire and Rescue Service and volunteer Bushfire Brigade crews, plus firefighters from Whiteman Park are working at the fireground.
Aerial firefighting operations include use of the Type 1 water bombing helicopter plus three Helitacs.
The State Emergency Service Communications Support Unit and WA Police are also providing assistance to FESA.
The incident was reported at 4.13pm today.
A number of roads have been closed including:
Reid Highway in both directions between Altone Road and Lord Street
Benara Road between Altone Road and West Swan Road
Reid Highway between Altone Road and West Swan Road
Lord Street between Marshall Road and Reid Highway
Marshall Road between Altone Road and Lord Street
Motorists should avoid the area.
Further clarification on road closures should be sought from WA Police or Main Roads WA on 138 138.
