Bushfire WATCH AND ACT message for Gidgegannup
Tuesday 5 January 2010 – 2:50 PM

A bushfire WATCH AND ACT message has been issued for people in the vicinity of Bunning Road, Joseph Road and Inthanoona Road near Gidgegannup.

 

There is currently no threat to property. But people should be vigilant for signs of fire.

 

You need to put your bushfire survival plan into action.

 

People living in the area need to be aware of fire and other emergency services personnel working on site and take their advice.

 

BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR:

The bushfire has been contained, but is not under control. It expected to be under control later this afternoon.

 

FESA was alerted to the fire at 2.22pm and currently there has been several hectares burnt.

 

WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING:

There are 25 firefighters at the scene and more on the way.

 

Two helitacs are being used to protect crews and homes.

 

ROAD CLOSURES:

A number of roads have been closed including:

Bunning Road between Swale Road and Toodyay Road.

 

Motorists motorist should avoid the area.

 

Further clarification should be sought from WA Police or Main Roads WA on 138 138.
