Bushfire WATCH AND ACT message for Brigadoon
Wednesday 6 January 2010 – 10:20 AM

ALERT LEVEL:
A bushfire WATCH AND ACT message remains current for people in Brigadoon in the areas bounded by Caspian Way, Campersic Road, Range Road, Joshua Mews and Weir Road.

The bushfire is contained and under control. People have returned home but should remain vigilant for signs of fire as warm, gusty winds may spark some flare ups.

Be prepared to relocate again if the fire activity increases. If this occurs and you are in this area there is still a possible threat to lives and homes. You need to keep your bushfire survival plan activated.  If you do decide to leave for a safer place, leave while the way is clear and take your bushfire survival kit with you. Relocating at the last minute is deadly.

BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR:
The bushfire is contained and under control.
FESA was alerted to the bushfire at 3.26pm on Sunday 3 January. It started in Millendon in the vicinity of Weir and Range Roads and has burnt through 180 hectares.

A cause is yet to be confirmed but people are encouraged to report suspicious behaviour to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

DAMAGE
Firefighters have saved homes but sheds, fencing and out buildings have been damaged.

A community meeting will be held at 6pm on Friday at the State Equestrian Centre to further update residents on the situation. This will include representatives from the City of Swan.

Residents are urged not to ride horses, bikes or go walking in the area for their own safety due to the fire zone and the movement of crews working on site.

Residents with questions on recovery issues can direct their calls to the City of Swan call centre on 9267 9267.

ROAD CLOSURES:
All roads in the area are open
Further clarification should be sought from WA Police or Main Roads WA on 138 138.
