Bushfire ALL CLEAR for communities west of Brand Highway, Ledge Point, Lancelin, Ocean Farms and Seaview Park
Wednesday 6 January 2010 – 5:50 PM

An ALL CLEAR advice has been issued for communities west of Brand Highway bounded by Beermullah Road West to the south and Mimegarra Road to the north and the coast, the communities of Lancelin, Ocean Farms, Seaview Park and Ledge Point.

The bushfire is now under control. People should remain vigilant in case the situation changes.

Crews are currently mopping up and will continue to monitor the area.

It is now safe for people to return home.

All roads are now open.

When returning home, motorists in the area should take extreme caution as there may still be smoke across some roads and fire and other emergency services personnel who are continuing their work.

Over 140 personnel from DEC, Fire and Rescue Service, Forest Products Commission, WA Police, SES and volunteer Bush Fire Brigade crews have worked on the fire.

They were supported by three waterbombers and a helicopter.

Firefighters have worked hard to get the fire under control.

It is estimated 4300 hectares were burnt.  No property or stock losses were reported, although fencing has been impacted by the fire.

No further media statements will be issued.
