Bushfire All Clear for Gidgegannup
Wednesday 6 January 2010 – 5:50 PM

ALERT LEVEL:

An ALL CLEAR advice has been issued for people in Gidgegannup east of Joseph Road between Inthanoona Road and Trimble Road.

 

The bushfire is contained and under control but people should remain vigilant in case the situation changes. 

 

WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING:

Local volunteer brigades are still mopping up and will monitor the area with FESA staff for the rest of the night and into tomorrow.

 

ROAD CLOSURES:

There are no roads closed.

INCIDENT INFORMATION:

It is estimated 5 hectares were burnt.

 

Firefighters involved in the fire effort included the career and volunteer Fire and Rescue Service, Bush Fire Service and Department of Environment and Conservation.

 

Mopping up operations will continue until the area is made safe.

 

Three Helitacs were used yesterday to assist ground crews.

 

The incident was reported at 2.22pm on Tuesday 5 January.

 

DAMAGE:

There was minor damage to some sheds.

 

No further media statements will be issued.
