Bush fire contained in Gnarabup / Prevelly area, Margaret River
FESA advises that the bush fire burning in the Gnarabup/Prevelly area, Margaret River has been contained.
To prevent the fire escaping crews are working to strengthen containment lines.
Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service and volunteer Bush Fire Brigade crews have been busy since 3pm yesterday protecting lives and homes.
Emergency services personnel from WA Police, Shire of Augusta Margaret River and Department of Environment and Conservation are working with FESA.
The Shire of August Margaret River has asked people not to burn off in the area or light a fire in the open air until 6pm on Monday.
A community meeting for people in the Gnarabup /Prevelly area will be held at the Gnarabup Oval at 11am.
It is estimated 350 hectares have been burnt. Firefighters have worked hard to get the fire contained and have saved many homes and sheds in the area.
Motorists in the area should take extreme caution when driving through smoke and low visibility. Be aware of emergency services personnel who are continuing their work.
