FESA continues to help Kalgoorlie Boulder after earthquake
Wednesday 21 April 2010 – 1:50 PM

FESA is continuing to work with the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder to help get the community back on their feet after yesterday’s earthquake.

Boulder’s business precinct on Bert Street will remain cordoned off between Moran, Piesse, Hamilton and Brookman Streets while engineers conduct an assessment to identify hazards. The assessment is expected to take up to two to three days.

Residents and local business owners are asked to remain patient while engineers conduct their assessment.

Once contractors have fixed the hazards and the area is safe, the precinct will be reopened, which is expected to happen progressively during the week.

People returning home should be vigilant because there could be debris and loose objects that could cause injury.

If your home has been damaged you should contact your insurance company to organise permanent repairs.

A local recovery committee has been established by the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder, chaired by Mayor Ron Yuryevich AM.

ROADS:

A number of roads will remain closed in the Boulder business centre while structural assessment takes place.

This includes the roads between Moran and Piesse Streets, bounded by Hamilton and Brookman Streets, which includes parts of Burt Street and Celebration Road.

Further clarification should be sought from the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder on 9021 9600 (office hours) or Alex Wiese on 0417 711 510.
