Nullagine firefighting resources bolstered with new pump
Monday 29 August 2011 – 2:40 PM

The Nullagine Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade is now better equipped to fight fires after receiving a new Rural Tanker appliance.
Pilbara Area Manager Wayne Cook said the new pump would enhance the crew’s capabilities to quickly and safely respond to emergencies in the Nullagine area.
“The old Nullagine appliance was nearing the end of service life,” Mr Cook said.
“The new $176,000 tanker will provide volunteers with the latest firefighting equipment.
“It can pump 380 litres of water per minute which is a significant improvement over its predecessor.
“This appliance also has many features that will make responding to emergencies safer, with the increased braking and handling capabilities not available when the old appliance was built.”
The replacement of the old vehicle is thanks to FESA’s Emergency Services Levy.
People in the Pilbara region are also reminded that above average rainfall has resulted in an increase in the amount of vegetation on the ground this dry season.
“More vegetation on the ground means there is more fuel for bushfires,” Mr Cook said.
“You can play your part in reducing the risk of a bushfire, by reducing the amount of vegetation around your property and ensuring you have a bushfire survival plan.”
