Show an opportunity to learn about bushfire preparedness
There will be more than rides and show bags at the Kelmscott Show this year with firefighters on hand to show people how to prepare, act, survive during the bushfire season.
Armadale Fire and Rescue Service Station Officer Ross Kitson said the event provided a unique opportunity for the public to interact with career and volunteer firefighters and ask questions.
“People will have the opportunity to talk with firefighters about steps they can take to prepare their home and family,” said Mr Kitson.
“The bushfires that occurred last season really highlighted the importance of taking preventative action and having a detailed bushfire survival plan.
“By visiting the FESA display people can learn how to reduce their risk by taking action now.
“It is also a great opportunity to find out more about bushfire warnings, fire danger ratings and total fire bans.”
In addition to learning how to prepare for a bushfire the FESA display will also provide information on home fire safety, arson awareness and the importance of having working smoking alarms installed.
People interested in volunteering will be able to speak with representatives from the State Emergency Service, Bush Fire Service and Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service.
The show takes place during Bushfire Action Week, October 16-23.
