Will you survive a fire this season? Get ready during Bushfire Action Week
This week is Bushfire Action Week (October 21-28).
FESA is urging all Western Australians to take action during the week by starting to prepare their homes and families for the upcoming bushfire season.
Bushfires happen every year and it is everyone’s responsibility to prepare.
Firefighters throughout the State are preparing for the bushfire season and they rely on the community to help them by being proactive and maintaining their properties.
There are a number of ways in which people can prepare their homes and families, including cleaning up around the house, creating a building protection zone around their property and sitting down with the family to make a bushfire survival plan.
People who have a bushfire survival plan and have done the work to prepare themselves and their property have the best chance of surviving a fire.
Bushfire survival plans should include all members of the family and should take into account what to do with pets and livestock.
Bushfire Action Week is also an opportunity for communities to come together and prepare together ahead of the fire season.
