People are being reminded that they should only call DFES’s State Emergency Service (SES) on 132 500 if the storm has caused major damage to their home such as a badly damaged roof, flooding or if fallen trees are blocking access.
DFES’s SES has received more than 230 calls for help across the Perth metropolitan area, South West and surrounding areas since yesterday morning following the widespread thunderstorms that hit overnight.
People who have called for SES assistance are urged to remain patient due to the high level of demand.
Calls are placed in a queue and answered as soon as possible. If you are unsuccessful please continue to call 132 500.
Requests are prioritised with the most urgent jobs, such as major structural damage, attended to first.
Please provide as much information as possible to the operator about your situation.
SES volunteers will not attend to trees that have fallen on fences, broken fences or if there is debris around your property or in your pool.
People should contact their insurance company to organise permanent repairs.
Call 000 to report all life threatening emergencies.
