Bushfire All Clear Advice for Howatharra, north of Geraldton
Tuesday 1 December 2009 – 5:30 PM

ALERT LEVEL:

 

An ALL CLEAR advice has been issued for people in Howatharra, north of Geraldton for a fire that started on the West side of North West Coastal Highway between Coronation Beach Road and Starling Road.

 

The bushfire is now being held within containment lines. People should remain vigilant in case the situation changes.

 

WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING:

Crews are working to strengthen containment lines to stop the fire escaping.

 

WHAT TO DO:

It is now safe for people to return home.

 

ROAD CLOSURES:

All roads are now open.

 

When returning home, motorists in the area should take extreme caution as there may still be smoke across some roads and fire and other emergency services personnel who are continuing their work.

INCIDENT INFORMATION:

Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade crews have been busy since 1.22pm working to get the fire under control.

 

It is estimated 250 hectares was burnt.
