Fire and emergency services award nominations now open
Nominations are now open for the 2014 fire and emergency services awards that recognise Western Australian volunteer and career personnel who have made an extraordinary contribution to the community.
Nominations can be made for brigades, units, groups or individuals across all Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) services who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.
Fire and Emergency Services Commissioner Wayne Gregson said the awards would rightly acknowledge those who have gone the extra mile.
“Within our ranks there are many exceptional emergency services personnel and volunteers who deserve to be recognised.”
“I encourage all members of the fire and emergency services to identify those among their peers that are worthy of recognition and nominate them for the awards.”
Commissioner Gregson said while all fire and emergency services personnel and volunteers make a significant contribution to the community there are those whose devotion to duty goes above and beyond what is reasonably expected of them.
“Awards will be given to those whose commitment to duty, innovative contributions or outstanding acts have been exceptional and have led to increased community resilience,” he said.
The closing date for nominations is 5pm on Friday 30 May 2014 for all services except for the Volunteer Marine Rescue Services which close at 5pm on Monday 30 June 2014.
The awards will be presented at ceremonies held during the WA Fire and Emergency Services Conference on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 October 2014.
