Public invited to attend DFES Service of Thanksgiving
Members of the public are invited to attend to join Department of Fire and Emergency Services personnel and volunteers at the fourth annual Service of Thanksgiving on Sunday 11 October.
Taking place in the beautifully historic surroundings of St George’s Cathedral in Perth, the service recognises the vital role that Western Australia’s fire and emergency services personnel play in protecting our community.
It is also an opportunity to say thank you to families and loved ones for their ongoing support.
The multi-denominational service will include a number of stirring readings and hymns, including readings by Emergency Services Minister Joe Francis and Emergency Services Volunteers Association President Michael Quinlan.
Members of the Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem will also be involved in the Service.
Chaplain Charlie Watson said the Service is a chance to come together, reflect, and pray for the continued wellbeing of loved ones as the winter storm season concludes and the busy bushfire and cyclone seasons approach.
"It is always wonderful to see representatives from across the services and their families attend this special event,” Chaplain Watson said.
"The Service provides an opportunity for us to give thanks for the selflessness and commitment shown by those who dedicate themselves to the fire and emergency services.”
The service will take place from 5pm to 6pm followed by a light supper.
To attend, please RSVP by Friday 9 October by emailing email@example.com.
St George’s Cathedral is located at 38 St Georges Terrace, Perth.
The dress code is dress uniform or smart casual.
