Bushfire ADVICE for north of Bringo, east of Geraldton
A bushfire ADVICE has been issued for people north of Bringo in Kojarena and Scabby Station Gully.
There are no lives or homes threatened by the fire. Although there is no immediate danger you need to keep up to date in case the situation changes.
WHAT TO DO:
People living in the area need to be alert and watch for signs of fire.
· Close all doors and windows
· Turn off evaporative air conditioners but keep water running through the system if possible
People living in the area need to be aware of fire and other emergency services personnel working on site and take their advice.
The bushfire is now contained.
WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING:
A number of firefighters from five volunteer bushfire brigades operated by the City of Geraldton-Greenough and the Shire of Chapman Valley, together with crews from the Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service are on the scene and will monitor the area for the rest of the night.
The incident was reported at 11.57am today.
There are no current road closures. The Geraldton-Mount Magnet Road is open but speed restrictions are in place.
Motorists should take care when travelling in the area.
