DFES manages a suite of awards programs and events to recognise volunteers and staff for their individual commitment to helping achieve a safer State. We all know that an organisation is more successful when everyone’s contributions are recognised, which is the focal area for awards programs such as WAFES Awards, Volunteer Employer Recognition Awards and Australian Honours.
Events are another essential area for developing a positive, supportive workplace. Volunteers and staff alike are encouraged to come together during knowledge-building opportunities such as the annual WAFES Conference, and to honour current and past firefighters at International Firefighters’ Day.
The WA Fire and Emergency Services (WAFES) conference is an annual event that celebrates the collaboration and camaraderie of our emergency services as we work towards creating a safer State. It provides emergency service volunteers and staff with an opportunity to network with their colleagues, acquire new skills and knowledge, and participate in a wide range of workshops and presentations.
